The Crate amp has been sitting undisturbed in my climate-controlled, smoke-free basement for about 15 years, so I'm not sure when and why it stopped working. I only retired the amp from service because I switched to using a much larger Fender amp. I used to use this as my main gigging amp every weekend about 15-20 years ago, and it served me very well for small bar gigs, unmic-ed, with a nice range of warm clean and overdriven tube tones that can be dialed in using the pre-amp gain and master volume level controls in conjunction with the three-band EQ (bass, mid, treble), spring reverb and "punch" button. Otherwise, the amp, cabinet and speaker are in very good condition, and it has a spring reverb tank.Īlthough it says "All-Tube" on the panel, I think it's actually a hybrid tube pre-amp / solid-state power amp configuration. When you turn it on, the amber pilot light comes on and the tubes glow orange, and you can hear the guitar signal coming through very quietly. It's not currently working, and I think the problem is the power supply or output transformer.
